Here’s a perfect way to get hyped for the upcoming Suspiria remake directed by Luca Guadagnino and starring Dakota Johnson and Chloe Grace Moretz: Take in a rare screening of an uncut 35mm print of the original Suspiria by Dario Argento, which will be touring art houses this summer and fall.

Few films rank higher on the most anticipated list than Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming Suspiria remake. The Italian filmmaker seduced film lovers with his lavish I Am Love, gave us a radiant, dancing Ralph Fiennes in last year’s A Bigger Splash, and made us, uh, feel a certain type of way in his extravagant and sensual Sundance breakout, Call Me By Your Name. Now he’s working on the remake to the Italian horror cult favorite, and the project just tapped Radiohead’s Thom Yorke to compose the score.

Tilda Swinton is known for transforming herself for her roles. She aged herself a few decades for her part in The Grand Budapest Hotel, she went bald for Doctor Strange, and perhaps her weirdest look was the false-toothed Margaret Thatcher-type she played in 2014’s Snowpiercer. Well, weirdest until now, that is. Recent set photos from the Suspiria remake seem to show an older gentleman exiting his trailer — except, that’s no man, that’s Tilda Swinton.

“I’m a bit nervous,” Mia Goth shyly admitted when I asked how she was at the start of our interview earlier this week. “I’ve never really done anything like this before,” she said of the press junket for A Cure For Wellness, set up in the downstairs of a lower Manhattan hotel. Goth made her film debut in 2014 as Charlotte Gainsbourg’s protege/lover P in Lars von Trier‘s Nymphomaniac Vol. II. Since then she’s had roles in Baltasar Kormákur’s Everest and the BAFTA nominated The Survivalist, and last fall her Elvis-themed wedding to husband Shia LaBeouf was live-streamed for the whole world to see (albeit supposedly on accident). But the new Gore Verbinski horror thriller is her biggest movie to date.

So much for that acting hiatus, huh? Just a couple of weeks after announcing that she’s taking a break from acting to assess her career choices, Chloe Moretz has already lined up her next project, but at least it’s a potentially interesting one: The young star is joining Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson in the long-developing remake of Dario Argento’s 1977 horror classic Suspiria.

The news of an upcoming remake of Argento’s nightmare fantasia might be cause for concern. But things are off to an awfully auspicious start; during a Q&A yesterday with filmmaker Luca Guadagnino at an Australian screening of his latest film A Bigger Splash, he announced some exciting new plans for his Suspiria remake.

Indie filmmaker David Gordon Green has been churning out studio comedies for the last several years (with varied success), but his next project promises something we haven't seen from the director before - a horror remake - and it looks like he's finally found some financial backing and filming is set to begin later this year.
