NBC Developing The Beatles Story as Event Series from 'Vikings' Creator

We'll say this for NBC, they're nothing if not persistent with their attention-grabbing TV events. Following the failure of horror remake miniseries 'Rosemary's Baby,' the peacock is looking a little lighter with a proposed event series telling the story of history's most iconic band, none other than the Beatles.

After weeks of skirting promos and press releases, 'Glee' season 5 has opened up for a full trailer of its forthcoming September 26 premiere "Love, Love, Love," chock full of Beatles tribute numbers, and little else. The gang is all smiles and songs in the first real run of footage from season 5, but how long until the bottom drops out?

It remains unclear exactly what (new) direction 'Glee' season 5 will take after its first three episodes, though we at least know the long-running FOX musical dramedy will maintain its light heart through the first two episodes of the coming run, paying tribute to The Beatles! The full songlists for premiere episode "Love, Love, Love" and "Tina in the Sky with Diamonds" has arrived, along with a spoilery synopsis of the story to come!

There was a time when licensing rights for movies and television was relatively inexpensive. Free advertising was often the thought, and you'd have a song like 'Thriller' show up in something like 'Revenge of the Nerds.' That time has long past, and now it can cost an arm and a leg to get a hit song. To get The Beatles 'Tomorrow Never Knows,' it cost 'Mad Men' around a quarter of a million dollars.
