If there's one thing Sylvester Stallone understands about the 'Expendables' franchise, it's that you've got to go big or go home. Everything we've heard about the upcoming 'Expendables 3' makes it sound like it's in a mad rush to make up for the particularly poor second film, which can only be a good thing. Mr. Stallone took to Twitter to share and spitball some ideas, including the casting of a new star and the return of another.
Just when you thought that the 'Expendables' franchise couldn't pull another action icon into its ensemble, Sylvester Stallone jumps on Twitter and announces that the one and only Antonio Banderas could be joining the cast of the upcoming 'The Expendables 3.'
For those of you who haven't been keeping tabs with Sylvester Stallone's buzzing Twitter activity, the 'Expendables' mainstay stated that he found someone to direct the upcoming 'Expendables 3.' Though for a while he failed to give us any clues as to whom that might be...until now! It looks like the much-discussed post is going to, well, someone you probably don't know.
In order for 'The Expendables 3' to top its predecessors, it's going to need a few things -- more carnage, more macho dialogue and, most importantly, a few more washed-up movie stars. And you know what? Wesley Snipes more than fits the bill.
About a month ago, Sylvester Stallone started working on the script for 'Expendables 3' which he said needed "new blood and new humor." How about this for new blood? Stallone is floating the name of an Oscar-winning director for 'Expendables 3'...Mr. Mel Gibson.
'The Expendables 3' will bring back our favorite team of action movie stars, including Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren and Jason Statham, to take on a new baddie of sorts. But which newcomers will be joining the fun on their upcoming excursion has been some area of speculation, with Jackie Chan being the latest to join the team, based on his previous statements. And with a production start date in the near future, Wesley Snipes is getting more attention thanks to fellow action hero Dolph Lundgren.
'The Expendables 3' is in the works, whether you're excited for it or not. Perhaps the main reason to get excited for the flick is to see who Sylvester Stallone wrangles in to join the ensemble, other than Jackie Chan (rumored cast members have included Harrison Ford, Nicolas Cage to Clint Eastwood!) But perhaps even more crucial to the movie's success will be the man sitting in the director's chair. We're still awaiting word of the 'Expendables 3' director but John Woo, who at one point was unquestionably the most exciting conductor of action, says he "will do it"...
The all-star cast of the 'Expendables' franchise is gearing up for a third installment, which our buddy Sylvester Stallone has already said is hoping will include an abundance of "new blood." There've been a number of names thrown into the mix -- one of which was Nicolas Cage, though Sly insists he has no knowledge regarding that particular rumor -- but someone brand-new to the crew has confirmed to have officially boarded the action star-filled 'Expendables 3,' and that's Mr. Jackie Chan.
Those 'Expendables' are still truckin'; despite being a combined age of 794 (well, roughly), the creaky action heroes are soldiering on toward 'The Expendables 3,' with Sylvester Stallone leading the charge. However, they just might be too old for this, um, stuff.
Stallone recently implied that the group will have to bring in new blood to keep going - and no, we don't mean a transfusion - we mean a new set of characters to shake things up and give the elder gentlemen a boost. So what does Sly have in mind? Find out after the break!
