It took 15 years to bring The Danish Girl to the bring screen, Tom Hooper’s latest film about the first woman to undergo gender-reassignment surgery in 1930s Berlin. Starring Eddie Redmayne as transgender pioneer Lili Elbe, and Alicia Vikander as her painter wife Gerda Wegener, the film charts their love story and journey. Over an intimate luncheon and interview, Hooper shared stories of his work on the film, the real trans women consulted with and what the screenplay taught him about love and expectations.

Sacha Baron Cohen has been attached to star in a biopic of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury for many years now but the project may finally be headed to the big screen. Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper, who worked with Cohen on 'Les Miserables,' is attached to direct the film, which could begin production later this year.

We're about to enter the heart of darkness for the Oscar season, where a number of big pictures are going to make their bid to be the front runner. But all bets are off until December 25, when 'Les Miserables' hits screens. Now there are two TV spots to sell the scale and importance (and perhaps inevitability) of the film.
