Though covering much of the same ground as the first one, the latest 'Transcendence' trailer plays up the role of the terrorists (headed by Kate Mara) who are looking to stop people like Johnny Depp from achieving the singularity. It seems as thought it's meant to show that this science-fiction film is going to have action alongside its heady ideas.

'Transcendence,' the directorial debut of Wally Pfister, has been shrouded in mystery since production began with stars Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall and Morgan Freeman. But as we enter the new year, Warner Bros. has come to release a detailed story synopsis for this latest sci-fi film, accompanied by the first-look photos of Depp and his co-stars.
As with all Christopher Nolan projects, there is a veil of secrecy surrounding 'Transcendence,' the upcoming sci-fi film starring Johnny Depp. Produced by Nolan and directed by Wally Pfister (Director of Photography on the 'Dark Knight' films), 'Transcendence' was designed to be a complex sci-fi film, not unlike 'Inception,' but to date, we haven't had much (if any) official confirmations on the film's plot.
Today, we got our hands on the official 'Transcendence' plot synopsis and it sheds some light on this mysterious project.
'Transcendence' is looking to be one of the biggest sci-fi flicks of the next couple years, mainly because we're intrigued by the mysteriousness of the the project, which is eyeing an April 2014 release. While Johnny Depp and Rebecca Hall, the latter of whom will be seen in 'Iron Man 3,' are set in the lead roles of Wally Pfister's latest, Morgan Freeman is poised to join as well.
'Transcendence' is starting to look like it'll have something for everyone. For some, it's the exciting directorial debut of Oscar-winning cinematographer Wally Pfister (the man behind the camera for most of Christopher Nolan's films). For others, it's the next Johnny Depp movie. For those still not interested, maybe the casting of the lovely Rebecca Hall will sweeten the deal.
