If ever a horror franchise seemed tailor-made for Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights, American Horror Story would be it. So it is, that this fall will bring us a new maze attraction based on select seasons of Ryan Murphy’s FX fever dream, scary clowns and all.
It was two months ago we first heard that The Walking Dead’s yearly Universal Studios attraction had earned a permanent place in the amusement park, and now we know when, and which walkers will storm the gates. Not only will the exhibit open in July, but a new BTS video shows the team using actual molds from famous walkers on the series.
Back to the Future fans have been blessed with a lot of cool stuff lately; all kinds of sneakers, toys, Blu-rays and other ways to celebrate the recently passed 30th anniversary of their beloved franchise. But it’s now 2016, uncharted waters beyond “the future” of Back to the Future. This is a world without Marty, Doc, and the DeLorean. Appropriately, Kotaku brings us more sad news about our dark future of no flying cars and those fake, crappy hoverboards: The final Back to the Future: The Ride is closing.
Were The Walking Dead not ubiquitous enough already, nor California already a zombified hellscape, Universal Studios Hollywood wants to do its part. Having previously featured The Walking Dead exhibits as a Halloween attraction, the zombie smash will now infect Hollywood fulltime.
I grew up going to theme parks. While most families were taking vacations to Hawaii, my family packed up the truck, threw us in the back with a camper shell as our only protection (seats belts?), and nothing but the road ahead of us as we trekked to Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm and Universal Studios every year. Seriously, this is all we did every single year. It's the reason why I love theme parks, and also the reason why I've never been to any of the real locations showcased in It's a Small World. As an adult, my love for theme parks is still as strong as it was as a child, and this year I got to visit Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights, one of the biggest Halloween events held every year in Los Angeles.
Given the popularity of Universal Studios' many film attractions, from the 'Transformers' rides to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, it was only a matter of time before the park corporation dug into a place fans have been longing to go: Springfield! 'The Simpsons' will get its own themed attractions at Universal Studios Florida in the near future, from rides to Duff beer at a real-life Moe's Tavern, so find out when you can visit Springfield IRL inside!
