Just a couple of weeks back we learned that Woody Harrelson was in talks to join the young Han Solo movie, the next spinoff under the Star Wars Story banner. Today, directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller officially confirmed the actor’s casting via Lucasfilm with a statement in which they praised Harrelson’s talents — both in front of the camera and behind a ping pong table. Hopefully those skills come in handy for the role of Han Solo’s mentor.

With the announcement that Woody Harrelson would be taking on mentoring duties for Disney and Lucasfilm’s young Han Solo spinoff, the fan theories and casting began in earnest. Harrelson isn’t 100% committed to the movie yet, but come on, are they going to find anyone more perfect for it? Probably not. Apparently, the Han Solo folks had someone even bigger in mind for the role: Christian Bale was also up for the mysterious mentor part.

Woody Harrelson seems to have found himself a niche. After mentoring Katniss Everdeen to greatness in The Hunger Games, the actor is poised to go guru again for the Star Wars young Han Solo spinoff movie.

As we prepare to polish off the crap sandwich that was 2016, we can allow ourselves some scant crumbs of hope as we look out over the slate of movies for the year to come. There are some exciting prospects on the calendar, with one of the more surprisingly excellent recent franchises making its triumphant return...

On Thursday, 20th Century Fox showed journalists some sneak peek footage from the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes. I got to see some brand new unreleased footage, hear some details from director Matt Reeves, and see the new trailer.

You know those actors you’ve always wanted to see reunite in a movie but never thought in your wildest dreams you’d get the chance? Woody Harrelson and Laura Dern both co-starred in 2005’s The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio, and now they’re together again for Wilson, a comedy from The Skeleton Twins director Craig Johnson. Johnson has proven to be adept at handling complicated family relationships while keeping a wry sense of humor the whole time, and in its first trailer, Wilson looks to be just that.

A sequel to the 2009 hit horror-comedy (but mostly comedy) Zombieland has been teased for some time, (there was even going to be an Amazon series at one point) but it wasn’t until earlier this year that the wheels seemed to have finally been set in motion. Via a surprise logo reveal, Zombieland 2 was officially announced at CinemaCon in April, with the writers who are also working on Deadpool 2 on board to pen the script.

Oh boy, another sequel.

When you have a chance to sit down with Marty Hart and the Hulk for a three minute interview, it’s difficult to decide what to cram into such a short amount time. But even well-planned questions won’t turn out as expected when talking to Woody Harrleson and Mark Ruffalo; these two are going to talk about whatever they want, including your eye color.

Magicians: they’re no longer just people who remind of you of the good choices you made in life when seen at children’s birthday parties. Magicians are now “cool” and “sexy” and “played by Lizzy Caplan.” She’s taking the place of Isla Fisher, who was presumably busy keeping a brave face as she watched her husband of six years crawl into an elephant’s vagina, as one of two new key acquisitions for the fledgling franchise. As the newly released trailer embedded above indicates, she’s one of three newcomers, along with Chinese singer Jay Chou and actual boy wizard Daniel Radcliffe, showing a little range by portraying a character who cannot do magic, but does somehow have access to every single computer in the world, which is slightly more implausible.
