In the upcoming musical film 'Rock of Ages,' Tom Cruise plays an aging rock star and the actor actually sings his songs in the film...and now you can hear his cover of Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me."

Let's see... Long hair? Check. Sleazy, suggestive tattoos? Check. Tight pants, no shirt? Got it. Eyeliner? Enough to make you question your own commitment to eye definition. Yes, Tom Cruise definitely looks the part, but does he sound like a rock star?

Vulture picked up this little nugget of gold from Tom Cruise's recent interview in Playboy, about performing a cover of a Def Leppard song for the band themselves:

"We started right in the deep end, and that was the first scene I shot in the movie. [Def Leppard] went to the back of the Bourbon Room, and I looked at my band and was like, 'Hit it.' All the crew was watching them watching me. The lead singer, Joe Elliott, points at me and goes, 'F--- you! F--- you!' Then I saw big smiles on their faces, and I realized I’d gotten their stamp."

Rest easy, guys. Tom Cruise has gotten a stamp of approval from an aging hair-metal band. But more importantly, Tom Cruise saying, "and I looked at my band" may be the funniest thing he's ever said. Who knew he was such a comedian?

And now you too can listen to Cruise's entire cover of "Pour Some Sugar on Me" below. It's... something. (If you need to cleanse yourself, you can listen to the original here.)
