Based on the short film of the same name, 'Excision' tells the story of a hormonal and confused teen girl through the lens of her surgery fetish. AnnaLynne McCord gives an incredible performance as Pauline, a plain girl whose mother dotes on her more conventionally feminine little sister. Sure, it's got loads of gory fantasy sequences and a shocking conclusion that it builds to unnervingly throughout, but 'Excision' is something special -- it explores the ideas of repression, seeking parental approval, and what it means to be a teenage girl. And these aren't themes that are new to horror, but writer and director Richard Bates Jr. has the skill set to marry the two beautifully.
