29. ‘The Beverly Hillbillies’

Written by Paul Henning and performed by Jerry Scoggins and Flatt and Scruggs, "The Ballad of Jed Clampett" used the countrified sounds of the banjo to tell the story of protagonist Jed Clampett of 'The Beverly Hillbillies,' a man who discovers oil on his land and becomes a millionaire, moving his family to Hollywood. The show ran from 1962 to 1971.
