Wednesday was a day filled with big stories, but, in the comic book world, there was none more surprising than the news that the character of Mary Jane Watson was cut entirely from 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2.' Startling, yes, but could this end up being the right move?

The official word from the 'Amazing Spider-Man' camp is that Mary Jane Watson (played by Shailene Woodley) has been excised from the sequel in order to "streamline the story," putting the focus squarely on the Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) and Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) dynamic.

But then we get another sock in the gut: It's not just that they've cut Mary Jane -- they've apparently cut Woodley herself, with reports coming in that the actress may not even take on the role in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3.' (This has not been confirmed, although The Hollywood Reporter claims it's "likely" the role will be recast.)

Regardless of who is tackling the role, however, we want to know, do you think it was wise of the producers to cut the character of Mary Jane Watson out of 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' completely?
