'Amazing Spider-Man 2' released the first official look at the new Spider-Man costume yesterday morning and now you know why: the sequel began filming outside in New York City, which means we now have a lot of unofficial photos of 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' in action. Today we've got brand new pics of Spider-Man on the streets of New York plus our first look at Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson!

In these 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' set photos, we see Andrew Garfield filming a scene where he stops a criminal (as Spider-Man is wont to do) and rips off his mask. We don't see the criminal in question but we do see the mask and it looks a lot like a Spider-Man mask, which means that after the events of 'The Amazing Spider-Man' and the growing popularity of the new hero, Spider-Man will see some imitators around town.

The one shot of Spider-Man also gives us a better look at Spidey's new costume and we can see the changes aren't just in the bigger eyes. Gone are the weird sneaker boots and the design on the top of the gloves (swapped out for more traditional versions). Also Spider-Man's belt (or at least waistband) is back to lessen the appearance of a unitard.

The other notable shot is our first look at Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson. It's obviously a much different look style wise than Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy but do you think she's got the look down? (Frankly, we still think the redhead Emma Stone would've made the better Mary Jane Watson but that's neither here nor there.)

So far no shots of the film's many villains - including Jamie Foxx as Electro or Paul Giamatti as Rhino - but 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' will be filming in New York City over the next few weeks and we'll certainly have our eyes and ears open!
