Just yesterday we saw the first images from Clint Eastwood's 'American Sniper,' revealing Bradley Cooper as Navy SEAL and prominent sniper Chris Kyle, and right on the heels of our first look comes the first official trailer for the action drama. From the looks of it, it seems like Cooper will definitely be picking up some nominations come awards season.

First things first: 'American Sniper' looks vastly different from Eastwood's other film this year, the musical drama 'Jersey Boys,' and that's a very good thing. Second of all, this film looks intense. Cooper gained about 40 pounds for the role of Kyle, the Texan-born and raised Navy SEAL who went on to become a sniper with the most confirmed kills from 1999 to 2009.

Known as "The Devil" by his enemies and "The Legend" by his SEAL brothers, Kyle was sent to the front lines of Iraq following the tragic events of 9/11. While there, he saved a group of Marines under fire, was shot twice, and had to cope with the loss of two of his closest friends. Upon returning home, Kyle published his best-selling autobiography in 2012, before having his life taken away from him in 2013 by a troubled Marine veteran on a gun range.

'American Sniper' has been a passion project of Cooper's for some time, and we can't wait to see the results when the film hits theaters in limited release on December 25. The film also stars Sienna Miller, Kyle Gallner, and Luke Grimes, and will expand nationwide on January 16, 2015.
