Will Ferrell appeared on the ‘Conan’ show in full Ron Burgundy gear to announce that Paramount had agreed to terms on an ‘Anchorman’ sequel. Precious few details were shared, however, before Burgundy blew into his flute and danced off into the night. When will the sequel reach theaters? And what might it be about? Thankfully, writer/director Adam McKay’s shedding a little more light on the situation.

McKay, who helmed the original ‘Anchorman’ (as well as ‘Step Brothers,’ ‘Talladega Nights’ and ‘The Other Guys’ with Ferrell), spoke to Salon about the tone and possible direction of the planned sequel.

“Keep in mind we’re still writing the story, but I’ll say one phrase for you: custody battle. I’ll give you that. I’ll give you one other one: bowling for dollars,” McKay hinted.

Of course, those mean nothing to us now. But in a few years, we’ll all likely be wearing t-shirts with the slogan “Bowling for Dollars” on it, and laughing at some joke that somehow grows funnier the more you say it.

Does a “custody battle” mean we’ll get more of Christina Applegate as Burgundy’s love interest, Veronica Corningstone? We can only hope, as the ‘Up All Night’ star more than held her own in the boy’s club that was McKay’s ‘Anchorman.’ But there hasn’t been a confirmation yet that Applegate will be back for the fun. Applegate herself was on the 'Today' show yesterday and, when asked, said, "I'm so hoping I'm going to be in there."

Stay tuned.
