In what may be the greatest news in the history of cinema, Will Ferrell broke on tonight's Conan O'Brien show that he will be reuniting with director Adam McKay, and co-stars Paul Rudd and Steve Carell for what could be the greatest sequel every filmed: 'Anchorman 2.' This has the possibility of making 'The Godfather Part II' look like 'The Godfather Part III.'

Little is said about what the sequel will be about, though early comments from McKay suggested that they would take the script on the road just like the Marx Brothers when they were making movies. How much of that will be applied to this film is unknown. Adam McKay tweeted that they are writing now and will shoot in February. Check out the video:

The film has been in development for years, and the sticking point was always the film's budget. Alas, comedy rarely has great international potential, which is why the sequel was always considered risky. With Rudd and Carell having achieved leading man status in the wake of 2004's 'Anchorman,' getting the team back together was looking too expensive. Paramount owns the rights to the film, and apparently they've finally decided that the sequel should go forward.

So what's the best quote from 'Anchorman' to express our excitement. Perhaps "I love scotch. Scotchy, scotch, scotch. Here it goes down, down into my belly..." No. No. How about: "I wanna say something. I'm gonna put it out there; if you like it, you can take it, if you don't, send it right back. I want to be on you." Or how about: "Loud Noises!"

Of this article, we would say "Great story. Compelling, and rich."
