While 'Man of Steel' shot primarily in Vancouver, and the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy shot, well, everywhere (mostly in London, Chicago and L.A. though), it appears that the untitled 'Batman and Superman' movie will be calling Michigan its home. But will Detroit be standing in for Metropolis or Gotham City?

The news comes from an official press release from the Michigan Film Office (via Coming Soon), which you can read below. It's good news for Detroit, which of course declared bankruptcy recently. The city has been the site of a few high profile films in the past couple of years, including 'Oz The Great and Powerful' and 'Transformers 4'.

While we unfortunately don't learn much more about the actual film, it has been revealed that shooting will commence sometime in the first quarter of 2014 and will spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $131 million in Michigan alone.

Said director Zack Snyder of the news in an official press release:

Detroit is a great example of a quintessential American city, and I know it will make the perfect backdrop for our movie. Detroit and the entire state of Michigan have been fantastic collaborators, and we are looking forward to working together on this film.

'Batman and Superman' will be released on July 17, 2015.
