With filming set to begin soon, the cast for the still-not-officially-titled 'Man of Steel' sequel that everyone keeps on calling 'Batman vs. Superman' keeps on expanding. The latest round of announcements includes one name that has us very interested indeed: Oscar-winning actress Holly Hunter.

The details of who Hunter will be playing remain under wraps at the moment, but she comes to Zack Snyder's comic book epic with some superhero experience of her own, having played Elastigirl in Pixar's beloved 'The Incredibles.' Snyder had this to say on her casting in a statement:

Holly has always been one of my favorite actresses. She has immense talent and is always captivating on screen. I had an opportunity to meet her a while back and knew instantly that I had to work with her, so as we began writing the script I made sure to create a role specifically for her.

According to Warner Bros., Hunter will be playing a completely original role with no comic book counterpart, but we can't be too sure. For all we know, Snyder dug deep into the DC Comics mythos to find a character that would fit Hunter perfectly.

Also joining the cast of 'Batman vs. Superman' are Tao Okamoto and Callan Mulvey, also playing mystery parts and "characters newly created for the film." Like Hunter, they both have experience in comic book movies, with the former appearing in 'The Wolverine' and the latter playing a small part in 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier.' Two Marvel vets making a DC movie? In comic book industry parlance, that's called "crossing the aisle."

The three newbies join the existing cast that includes Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, plus Amy Adams reprising her role as Lois Lane.

'Batman vs. Superman' is scheduled to open in theaters on May 6, 2016.
