‘Breaking In’ Trailer: So This Is Basically Reverse ‘Panic Room’?
I have a new favorite tagline ever, and it’s from Breaking In, a home invasion thriller starring Gabrielle Union as a mom whose kids are kidnapped and held inside a heavily fortified house. Are you ready for this tagline? You might think you are, but you’re not. Okay, here it is:
“This May, payback is a mother.”
Oh hell yeah. Here’s the official synopsis:
Next Mother’s Day, Gabrielle Union stars as a woman who will stop at nothing to rescue her two children being held hostage in a house designed with impenetrable security. No trap, no trick and especially no man inside can match a mother with a mission when she is determined on Breaking In. Producers Will Packer (No Good Deed, Obsessed) and Union (Almost Christmas, Being Mary Jane) reunite for this original thriller directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, Sense8). Written by Ryan Engle (Non-Stop), Breaking In co-stars Billy Burke (Twilight series), Richard Cabral (End of Watch), Seth Carr (Black Panther) and Ajiona Alexus (Empire).
All that and it’s by the guy who directed Ninja Assassin? We lived in a great time.
Basically, what you have here is a Reverse Panic Room. (They should have called it that.) Instead of a mom trapped in a room with people trying to get in, you have the bad guys with the kids in the house, and the heroic mom having to force her way inside. I love it. Breaking In opens in theaters on May 11.
