Godzilla: King of the Monsters seems to be working all the Prestige TV angles it can find. After locking down Stranger ThingsMillie Bobby Brown and Bloodline’s Kyle Chandler, he film has just cast Charles Dance, a.k.a. the winner of Game of Thrones’ Number One Dad award.

Deadline reports that Dance has closed a deal to star in the film, although his role, much like the plot, is unknown. Sally Hawkins is also back on board to reprise her role from 2014’s Godzilla, in which she played a creature-tracking scientist assisting Ken Watanabe’s character (who will also be back). Kyle Chandler and Vera Farmiga have been cast as Millie Bobby Brown’s parents who will probably end up running through a crumbling city away from some giant monster at some point in the movie. The plot may be mysterious, but there are a few beats all monster movies usually end up hitting.

Considering Dance is mostly known for his portrayal of the villainous Lannister paterfamilias, he could be playing a villain in this movie. The antagonists of Godzilla (2014) were those buglike M.U.T.O.s, but this new one could be introducing a human baddie into the mix. Dance can certainly play sinister extremely well.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters, directed by Michael Dougherty, hits theaters May 22, 2019.
