‘Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2′ Poster Reveals “Something Big Was Leftover”

We're pretty pumped for 'Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2,' partially due to the first poster that has recently hit. While the first film was a family friendly animated adventure, it was also a thoughtful exploration of scientific responsibility and a joke machine that crams more gags into every minute than most films have in their entire running time. So to continue our excitement into the sequel, check out this brand-new 'Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2' poster look.

'Cloudy 2' picks up some time after the events of the first film, with Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) now a respected inventor despite the fact that his previous creation nearly destroyed the world. Naturally, he learns that the device (which transforms water into food) is still active, creating an entire ecosystem of "food-animal hybrids."

That bonkers plot synopsis is right in line with the original, which elevated the simple source material into one of the most bizarre mainstream movies in recent memory. Although original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller aren't returning (they've gone onto other things, including the wonderful '21 Jump Street'), we're going to cross our fingers and hope that Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn know what made the first one work.

The film doesn't open until September, so feel free to feast (pun unintended) your eyes on this first 'Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2' poster (released through Yahoo Movies), which gives off a distinct 'Jurassic Park' vibe. Another good sign.
