Donald Glover for Michael Bay’s ‘Ninja Turtles’ Reboot?

Please, someone give Donald Glover a movie (and no, not 'Mystery Team 2.')  Not only is Glover one of the breakout stars of NBC's critically-acclaimed 'Community,' but he also maintains a successful hip-hop career, and stand-up presence.  And even though Glover was denied the chance to play Spider-Man on the big screen, fans have another iconically geeky role in mind for the actor...

In the wake of the grassroots "Donald4Spiderman" campaign that saw fans lobbying for 'Community' star Donald Glover to break racial barriers my playing the titular role of 'The Amazing Spider-Man,' it would seem that fans have since zeroed in on another famous comic book role suited to the actor; the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!'  Rather, "Teenage Mutant" might be a moot point, given Michael Bay's well-documented franchise changes for his upcoming 'Ninja Turtles' reboot.

But of the four, which turtle would Glover be most apt to play?  While the fans driving the campaign through Glover's Twitter account have the actor pegged for Leonardo, Glover told MTV his own ideas of who he'd like to bring to life for the Jonathan Liebesman-directed film.  Hoping for Raphael instead, Glover explained:

[Raphael] and Leonardo was always an alpha male-omega male kind of thing, where they would fight each other a lot because Leonardo was deemed the leader, the oldest.

Donatello was kind of left out in the cold. He's kind of the middle kid. ... He was the smart one. He solved the problems, but that's not interesting. Nobody wants to be Professor X. No, everyone wants to be Wolverine. I want to be cool, not smart.

Of course, that isn't to say that Glover would pass up the opportunity if given, as he added "If someone said, 'Oh, you want to be Donatello?' Yeah, I'll take that. I'm not going to be like, 'No, I'm holding out for Raphael.'"  Additionally, it remains unknown precisely how the Turtles might be brought to life for Bay's reboot, be they CGI creations or some mixture of visual and practical effects.
