Emma Watson’s more than familiar with big-screen adaptations of wildly popular novels. But that doesn’t mean the ‘Harry Potter’ starlet is a shoe-in to play Anastasia Steele in the forthcoming ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ film, just because you happened to see her name associated with the production on a hundred message boards.

Watson attempted to clarify the various rumors while speaking to EW.com. She said:

I haven’t read the book, I haven’t a read a script, nothing. There are so many movies you become attached to when I’ve literally never even received a phone call. It was the same way with ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ – I never even saw a script! … The thing is I’m not going to go out there every time someone attaches me to a film to say no or release a statement.

Yet, the casting wheel continues to turn on ‘Grey,’ which will have to land its Christian and Anastasia eventually. As for Watson, she has more than enough on her plate to keep her busy. Her upcoming coming-of-age drama ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ is heading to the Toronto International Film Festival. She recently wrapped filming ‘The Bling Ring’ with Sofia Coppola and she's about to start shooting on Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Noah,’ with Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly.

Very few actresses can claim they don’t need the career boost that will come with a leading role in ‘Fifty Shades.’ Watson, though, is one of them.
