Mermaids! Sea monsters! Epic battles! No, it's not a horror remake of 'The Little Mermaid.' It's 'Empires of the Deep,' the epic film that's been in production since 2010, and now we have our first official peek at Olga Kurylenko in the world created by Michael French.

Beautiful actress Olga Kurylenko might not be a name you're immediately familiar with, but the actress has an impressive resume, including the Starz series 'Magic City,' and the kick-ass role of Etain in Neil Marshall's 'Centurion.' She's also starred in 'Quantum of Solace,' and has roles in Terrence Malick's upcoming 'To the Wonder,' and Martin McDonagh's 'Seven Psychopaths.'

But she also stars in 'Empires of the Deep,' a film that has been in production since 2010 from director Michael French. Oh, and it just cost something like, $100 million to make.

The film tells the story of a young man in a kingdom under the sea (try not to sing the song from 'The Little Mermaid,' we dare you) on a quest to save his father. On the way he encounters mermaids, sea monsters, and demons.

From the first official image (courtesy of Kinopoisk) it seems that Kurylenko is playing the role of a mermaid, and it looks kind of fantastic. 'Empires of the Deep' will hit theaters in 3D (arg!), though an official release date is unknown.
