The world was supposed to end today (newsflash: it didn't) and yesterday we got a first look at one upcoming apocalyptic comedy, the Seth Rogen and James Franco film 'This Is the End.' Today we get our first official look at 2013's other apocalyptic comedy, the Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost film 'The World's End.'

While director Edgar Wright has kept radio silence on Twitter since the filming of 'The World's End' began, his star Simon Pegg tweeted today, "That's a wrap. See you next year," along with the first official photo of the film. Due in October, 2013, 'The World's End' goes as follows:

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

'The World's End' is the third film in the fabled "Cornetto Trilogy" that also includes 'Shaun of the Dead' and 'Hot Fuzz' (and is named after the popular British ice cream brand).

In the photo below you see 'The World's End' stars Pegg, Frost, 'The Hobbit' star Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine and Eddie Marsan.
