Are you ready to dance your cares away? No? Well too damn bad, they’re making a new Fraggle Rock movie and you will dance your cares away, dammit. WORRIES ARE FOR ANOTHER DAY, YOU HEAR ME?

Variety says the Fraggle Rock film, which has been in development for a couple years already, is now moving forward with Joseph Gordon-Levitt now attached to produce and star. Here’s Joe-Go’s comment on the announcement:

“The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations, first on Sesame Street, and then on Fraggle Rock. Jim Henson’s characters make you laugh and sing, but they’re also layered, surprising, and wise. From Oscar the Grouch, to Yoda, to the Fraggles. I’ve never stopped loving his work, even as a young frisky man, and on into adulthood. Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved.”

I (like most folks my age) know exactly how he feels. I loved the Muppets as a kid, and Fraggle Rock, which aired throughout the 1980s on HBO, was a particular favorite. I haven’t seen it in decades, but I could still bust out the entire theme song right now if I had too. (Let the music play, y’all.) Variety doesn’t specify what role Gordon-Levitt will play; I don’t really see him as Doc, the lone human character (who doesn’t realize that his workshop contains a hole that leads directly to the world of the Fraggles, these tiny, adorable subterranean creatures), so maybe he could provide the voice of one the Fraggles. How about Traveling Matt?
