Fans of the popular 'Twilight' series should be happy to know that Stephanie Meyer's sci-fi love story 'The Host' is being turned into a feature-length film. Yeah, as if that wasn't going to happen. But since filming is underway, Open Road Films has decided to let fans know that the countdown begins for the release of 'The Host'...just about a year before the film is schedule to hit theaters.

Andrew Niccol dips his feet into the cool pool of sci-fi once again with directing 'The Host.' If the name sounds familiar, that's probably because of his recent directorial work with the Justin Timberlake starring movie 'In Time.' The director has long adored science fiction, hence why he's never worked in any other genre.

The cast for 'The Host' includes Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons, Jake Abel, Diane Kruger and William Hurt. In the film, we're thrown into a futuristic world where our planet has been taken over by an unknown alien force. Humans turn into hosts for the invaders who take over their brain while the rest of their body is still in one piece. One such invader does this and inhabits the body of a young woman (Ronan) who's ultimate goal of wiping out the human race is being buried by the young woman's mental willpower to find her loved ones, despite the obstacles. Does true love really conquer all? We'll just have to wait and see.

Since 'The Host' is to be released on March 29, 2013, that means that we're a little over a year away from the film's release. In light of this milestone, Open Road Films released the brand new image of Saoirse Ronan as the blue-eyed Wanda.
