Well, this should come as no surprise to anyone.  Considering that 'How I Met Your Mother' season 7 finale "The Magician's Code" saw Ted Mosby heading off into the sunset with former love Victoria (Ashley Williams), the show would have had some 'splaining' to do if the character wasn't present or at least acknowledged for the show's eighth (and possibly final) season.  That said, guess who's back for 'How I Met Your Mother' season 8?

TVLine has confirmed that actress Ashley WIlliams will return for 'How I Met Your Mother' season 8, reprising her character of Ted's one-time love interest Victoria.  Fans of the series will recall (somewhat begrudgingly) that the character was last seen driving past the church where she was to be returned to her own wedding, heading off into the sunset to rekindle things with Ted.

The character will return for a multi-episode arc starting with the September 24 premiere, but there's a dizzying catch.  Where initially Ted chose to run away with Victoria in the finale, his conscience got the better of him as he decided to return her to the church, remembering how he'd been left at the altar before.  Once there however, his positive memories of Victoria flourished, and he decided to drive straight past the church into the sunset!  So what's the catch?

Well, they don't get very far.  Once Ted learns in the premiere that Victoria didn't even write her groom-to-be a "Dear John," he turns around and returns her to the church once more.  Still, we're guessing her return doesn't go so smoothly if Victoria is to appear for a few episodes.

Williams isn't the only character to return for season 8 however, as Robin (Cobie Smulders) will be getting a new (old) love interest in the form of 'Battlestar Galactica' vet Michael Trucco, who previously appeared on the series in season 6 as an unnamed crush of Robin's.
