Despite the Insidious franchise’s diminishing returns in quality, Blumhouse Productions is taking us back to The Further, this time with a new director. The studio has set an official release date for Insidious: Chapter 4, which will arrive just in time for Halloween in 2017. And it’s bringing the best part of the series with it, as Lin Shaye is set to reprise her role as parapsychologist Elise Rainier.

Deadline reports that Insidious: Chapter 4 is in the works, with newcomer Adam Robitel set to direct the next installment in the spooky franchise. Robitel recently made his feature directorial debut with the 2014 horror flick The Taking of Deborah Logan. Franchise scribe Leigh Whannell — who also directed Insidious: Chapter 3 — will return to write the screenplay for Chapter 4.

Insidious director James Wan will produce the sequel alongside Jason Blum and Paranormal Activity director Oren Peli. Starring Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson, the first film centered on a family haunted by a demonic spirit and forced to enlist the help of Lin Shaye’s parapsychologist. Chapter 2 picks up where the first film left off, while Chapter 3 is a prequel that focuses on another family and shows the origins of Elise’s ghost-busting team.

Plot details for Chapter 4 are currently unknown, so it’s not clear if the new sequel will be another prequel to the first two films or if it will take place after.

Insidious: Chapter 4 is slated to hit theaters on October 20, 2017.
