Daniel Craig Says ‘Nothing Has Been Confirmed’ for His Bond Return, But Come On Now
While it sure sounds like another James Bond film is definitely happening, and happening soon, and it also sounds like Daniel Craig will be back to play 007, nothing has been absolutely set in stone yet, it seems. Craig himself says that nothing is “confirmed” about his return to Bond, though this could just mean that he hasn’t signed anything yet.
While appearing on WMMR’s Preston & Steve Daily Podcast ahead of Steven Soderbergh’s new film Logan Lucky, Craig was coy about whether he’s returning to the Bond franchise.
You know, I don’t want to be coy, but I really can’t talk about this. Nothing has been confirmed. I know what the papers are saying, and when I read them, I’m thinking ‘What?!’ but nothing is confirmed.
Here’s what we know: a new Bond movie is definitely coming November 2019. Here’s what we’ve heard: Craig might be playing the character for another two movies, and the president of Showtime sure seems to think he’s in for at least one.
James Bond is a big deal in the movie world, and who’s playing him is also a big deal, so it makes sense that the rumors have been swirling for all this time with no confirmation either way. Craig is probably just making sure he’s in and the ink is dry before he says anything definite about it. How embarrassing would that be if he spent the whole Logan Lucky press tour saying yes, and then have Sony tell him, “Sorry mate, we’re going with Channing Tatum this time actually.”
