Simon Pegg has built his career on playing charming, affable everymen, but ‘Kill Me Three Times’ presents him with a different sort of role: a charming, affable assassin. Decked out in a black suit and rocking the hell out of a sleazy mustache, the film looks like a delightful left turn for an actor who could have easily coasted through the rest of his career. Hopefully, there are more surprises lurking in the film than what is revealed in this first trailer.

This is the Australian trailer for the film, and it doesn’t have a friendly MPAA warning at the front, so consider this NSFW unless your work is cool with trailers features their fair share of F-bombs and bloody violence. However, that excess is in service of what essentially looks like a screwball comedy; Pegg’s assassin is hired to to kill a woman, only to learn that pretty much everyone else in her life wants to take her out, too. Wackiness ensues.

Of special note: this film contains Luke Hemsworth, which brings the current number of active Hemsworths up to three. How long until they take over the world?

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

A mercurial assassin (Simon Pegg) discovers he isn’t the only person trying to kill the siren (Alice Braga) of a sun-drenched surfing town. In this darkly comedic thriller, the hitman finds himself unraveling three tales of mayhem, murder, blackmail and revenge.

‘Kill Me Three Times’ is supposed to arrive in U.S. theaters on December 31, 2014, just in case you want to ring in the new year with Simon Pegg executing people.
