Remember Quentin Tarantino's 'Jackie Brown,' in which Pam Grir plays a flight attendant wrapped up in a scheme to smuggle drugs into the US? Well, what were two of those scheming bad guys, the ones played by Samuel L. Jackson and Robert De Niro, like when they were younger? What kind of shenanigans would they get themselves into? 'Life of Crime' tries to answer that question, and the first trailer is full of laughs and semi-failed schemes.

The late Elmore Leonard wrote the novel on which 'Jackie Brown' is based, and he also wrote 'The Switch,' which now serves as the basis for 'Life of Crime.' Jennifer Aniston stars as a housewife with a cheating husband who gets kidnapped by a gang of criminals, including Lois Gara (De Niro's 'Jackie' Brown' character, now played by John Hawkes) and Ordell Robbie (Sam Jackson's, now played by Mos Def), and ransomed for $1MM. Too bad for the oblivious wife, her husband (Tim Robbins) doesn't want her back and would instead rather frolic around with his Isla Fisher-looking mistress.

Commence with the hilarious revenge plot!

'Life of Crime' got some positive reviews coming out of the Toronto International Film Festival last year, which is already refreshing news -- we'd like to see Aniston in something a little bit better than 'We're the Millers' (or 'We're the Millers 2' for that matter). 'Life of Crime' also stars Will Forte and Mark Boone Junior, and hits theaters and on demand August 29.
