We've given ABC's admittedly "wacky" alien sitcom 'The Neighbors' a bit of flack since its debut, as have a number of TV critics. Still, the Dan Fogle-created series continues to perform modestly for the network, and may just have brought about its most redeeming news to date. Following earlier references to the explosive director, 'The Neighbors' has officially tapped Michael Bay to make a guest appearance in a coming episode, but will he be his "awesome" self or a character more alien than we've come to expect?

Take good care of your TVs, folks, because ABC isn't liable to cover the damage when Michael Bay makes an explosive guest turn on 'The Neighbors.' TVLine reports that the 'Transformers' director will appear as himself in a coming episode of the ABC comedy, which was recently extended to a full season.

According to the report, Jami Gertz‘s Debbie will encounter the famed director at a club during an evening excursion for the cast's adult characters. The series had previously referenced the director when Marty (Lenny Venito) touted to Larry Bird (Simon Templeman) and Jackie Joyner-Kersee (Toks Olagundoye) the "realistic" portrayal of aliens featured in 'Transformers,' leading the extraterrestrial couple to wonder to themselves, “how does he know about Michael Bay?”

Bay himself has been getting into the TV game of late, executive producing both Starz's 'Black Sails' and TNT's 'The Last Ship,' though this is his first appearance as himself. Tell us if you'll tune in to see Michael Bay join 'The Neighbors' in the comments!

And hey, for funsies:
