Sherlock Holmes is one of those things that’s always going to be around, in one form or another. Depending on its stars’ schedules, the BBC still makes occasional episodes of their smash hit Sherlock, CBS had their extremely good Elementary, and for a few years there Guy Ritchie had his own styliish film series. While the stories have had no trouble attracting their female fans (I’ve read enough fan fiction to be able to confirm this), Millie Bobby Brown is about to make the series much more accessible to a younger girl audience by bringing Nancy Springer’s Enola Holmes Mysteries to the big screen.

Did you know Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes had a younger, equally precocious sister? Well, they didn’t, not in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s original canon anyway, but since Holmes and his adventures are now in the public domain, everyone’s allowed to have a little fun with them. Deadline reports that Millie Bobby Brown, a.k.a. Eleven from Stranger Things, will be starring in and producing a series of films for Legendary based on Nancy Springer’s series about the young girl detective.

The book series begins with The Case of the Missing Marquess and contains six novels. Books 1 and 5 were both nominated for Edgar Awards. Brown has apparently developed a relationship with Legendary after starring in the studio’s Godzilla sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
