Although it’s far from an actual trailer (or even a real teaser, for that matter), we do have our first inkling of what’s in store with Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Tim Burton’s adaptation of the beloved Ransom Riggs novel of the same name. If you’re a fan of that book, then you’re aware that September 3 (that would be today, guys) has some significance in the story as “Loop Day,” and the first teaser honors it accordingly.

This teaser for Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is an odd little thing, particularly for those unfamiliar with the novel and Loop Day — in the story, Miss Peregrine’s home is situated in the September 3, 1940 time loop, with the clock resetting every day just before the island was bombed by Germany, allowing the residents to avoid the catastrophe. This day is known as “Loop Day.”

Here is how Burton’s adaptation is officially described:

When his beloved grandfather leaves him clues to a mystery that spans different worlds and times, Jake finds a magical place known as Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. But the mystery and danger deepen as he gets to know the residents and learns about their special powers…and their powerful enemies. Ultimately, Jake discovers that only his own special “peculiarity” can save his new friends.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children stars Asa Butterfield as Jake, Eva Green as Peregrine, Chris O’Dowd, Allison Janney, Samuel L. Jackson, Terence Stamp, Judi Dench, Kim Dickens and Rupert Everett, and hits theaters on March 4, 2016.
