Alec Baldwin may be done with the paparazzi and media as we know it, but he won't let any of that drama get in the way of his career. As 'Mission: Impossible 5' solidifies its cast and returns Tom Cruise to the fold, the film is looking to enlist the former '30 Rock' star to supervise Cruise's secret agent theatrics.

According to Deadline and Variety, Paramount is in talks with Baldwin to join 'Mission: Impossible 5' as a high-ranking CIA head overseeing Cruise's division. Hopefully this new position comes with his own personal stash of scotch.

UPDATE: In addition, Variety reports that the studio is close to offering the lead female role to newcomer Rebecca Ferguson, known for her role on the Starz series 'The White Queen.' Jessica Chastain was originally offered the part but ultimately passed. 'Mission: Impossible 5' is directed by Cruise's 'Jack Reacher' helmer Chris McQuarrie and also features the return of Simon Pegg. Original article continues...

Baldwin has a pretty packed post-'Rock' plate -- aside from 'Mission: Impossible 5,' Deadline reports he's also in talks to join Will Smith in that film about football concussions for Sony, and he's also developing a show for NBC spoofing the infamous Toronto mayor Rob Ford. But he's Jack Donaghy, damn it! He'll rest when he's dead.

'Mission: Impossible 5' will bow on Christmas 2015.
