One of the best things about the Mission: Impossible series — and many Tom Cruise action films, actually — is how dedicated Cruise is to performing as many of his stunts as possible. Directors have grown increasingly reliable on CG to create dangerous stunts, but Cruise likes to keep things real. You can get a taste of that in the latest clip from Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation which features the actor involved in some crazy chase sequences.

There are a few key scenes we keep seeing in trailers and TV spots: Tom Cruise hanging off of a plane, Tom Cruise diving into highly pressurized water and holding his breath for what feels like an eternity (he actually did hold his breath for several minutes for this stunt), and the very intense chase scenes involving motorcycles and cars. This movie has something for everyone.

But the new clip shows off the vehicle chases in particular, and there’s something far more thrilling about knowing that we’re actually watching Tom Cruise engage in these riveting sequences.

Ethan Hunt and team take on their most impossible mission yet, eradicating the Syndicate – an International rogue organization as highly skilled as they are, committed to destroying the IMF.

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation also stars Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Alec Baldwin and Rebecca Ferguson, and hits theaters on July 31.
