NBC’s ‘Hannibal': David Bowie To Play Hannibal’s Uncle in Season 2?
Moderate though the ratings may be, we're extremely eager to see NBC's 'Hannibal' granted an additional season, especially after all the pickups the network handed out today. So while the first season bleeds on, would you believe that series creator Bryan Fuller wants music legend David Bowie to play a major role in 'Hannibal' season 2? Find out if Ziggy Stardust will end up on a plate inside!
Critics have been largely over the moon for NBC's dark and devious 'Hannibal,' though showrunner Bryan Fuller has in mind to go even deeper into space for season 2. Via IGN, we've learned that a recent interview with Getty Images Entertainment had Bryan Fuller expressing his ideal choice to play Hannibal Lecter's seldom-mentioned uncle in season 2, none other than rock icon David Bowie!
I guess my dream casting for the show would be to cast David Bowie as Hannibal Lecter’s uncle. If we get a second season I will reach out and see if there is any interest.
NBC are saying that they’re very happy with where we are at so I hope that indicates towards a second season because I have a plan for Season 2 that I think would be very exciting.
Keep in mind Fuller's words are only wishful thinking for the moment, as 'Hannibal' has yet to officially receive a second season order, and in fact took an episode out of rotation recently for US audiences. 'Hannibal's first season alone brings with it some impressive guest casting, including ‘Dead Like Me’s’ Ellen Muth, Lance Henriksen,‘The X-Files’ star Gillian Anderson, Gina Torres comedian Eddie Izzard, ‘SNL‘ alum Molly Shannon, ‘Pushing Daisies’ vet Ellen Greene, ‘Wonderfalls’ star Chelan Simmons and Raul Esparza.
We're certainly game to add David Bowie to the list in season 2, given his presence in films like 'Labyrinth' and 'The Prestige,' but seriously NBC, give 'Hannibal' a second season already! In the meantime, check out the latest preview and give us your thoughts in the comments!
