The always-welcome weirdness of Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein’s IFC ‘Portlandia‘ will return in 2015 for its fifth season (might it be the last?) on January 8, and this season might be the biggest yet. The first full trailer for ‘Portlandia’ season 5 has eco-biked its way down the hill, bringing an “epic” tone and more guest stars than we can rightly shake an organic celery stalk at.

The January premiere will dip into recurring feminist characters Toni and Candace’s long-time friendship, as well as the unlikely circumstances that first united them against the assaults of patriarchy in the first place. Returning guest stars for the season will include ‘SNL‘ star Vanessa Bayer, Ed Begley Jr., Jeff Goldblum, Kyle MacLachlan, Kumail Nanjiani, Olivia Wilde and Steve Buscemi, who himself will guest direct an episode this season.

Not enough? You’re in luck! New guest stars for ‘Portlandia’ season 5 will include the likes of Shepard Fairey, Greta Gerwig, Peter Giles, ‘Simpsons‘ creator Matt Groening, ‘Breaking Bad‘ star Anna Gunn, Justin Long, ‘Glee‘’s Jane Lynch, ‘Orange is the New Black‘’s Natasha Lyonne, Seth Meyers, Brigitte Nielsen, Parker Posey, Paul Reubens, singer-songwriter Paul Simon and ‘Sesame Street‘’s Oscar the Grouch.

So reads the official season 5 synopsis:

The stakes are high for everyone this season. Bryce and Lisa’s precious Taxidermy Shop is vandalized, Malcolm and Kris are a public failure as parents, Lance and Nina seek out couples therapy, Fred and Carrie attempt to buy a home in Portland’s cutthroat real estate market –– and throughout, the show remains as sharply observant as ever.

We don’t yet know if ‘Portlandia’ will return for a sixth season after 2015, but what are you waiting for? Get weird with the full trailer above, tune in January 1 for an IFC marathon of the entire series, and tell us what you want from ‘Portlandia’ season 5 on January 8!
