It's hard to steer a career right after some studio failures, but it looks like Karyn Kusama is going back to the indie world that launched her with 'Girlfight.' She's directing 'The Rut' and has Chloe Grace Moretz and Jeffery Dean Morgan already in, but it looks like she's going to be adding Goodfella Ray Liotta to the mix.

This comes from The Hollywood Reporter, and it's good on Liotta, who's been steadily building a post-'Goodfellas' career of character work, and - these days - a lot more comedy. He's been in films like 'Observe and Report' and we've heard he may show up on an Adult Swim show or two.

But what's interesting is Kusama, who started with 'Girlfight' and then got suckered into 'Aeon Flux' - which put her in director jail - only for the strike to land her 'Jennifer's Body.' That film got a similar reception to Lena Dunham's new TV show 'Girls,' in that there was a weird distaste for one of the only (if not the only) horror movie about women, written and directed by women.

The film is about a girl (Moretz) who goes into the wilderness to hunt deer and win her father's (Morgan) respect. Liotta would play the bad guy in the film. Typecasting.
