The Spidey-less Spider-Man cinematic universe was off and running with our first official look at Venom a few days ago, but there’s more coming at us in the next few years. Next, Sony is focusing on a very different pair of heroes. Black Cat and Silver Sable, a cat burglar and a mercenary, will unite (maybe) for Silver & Black, which has a director, and has now scored a duo of female screenwriters in high demand in the genre movie scene.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet have been tapped to write the latest version of the script, which has gotten rewrites from Thor: Ragnarok’s Chris Yost, Westworld’s Lisa Joy, and director Gina Prince-Bythewood herself in the past. Beer worked on upcoming YA sci-fi thriller Chaos Walking, various Transformers movies, and Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Star Trek movie, and Robertson-Dworet’s credits include the upcoming Tomb Raider and Captain Marvel. Hiring these two is a very cool move for a film that seems to realize the importance of having female talent not just in front of the camera, but also behind it.

The movie’s plot is, obviously, still in the works, but it’ll focus on Marvel Comics’ Black Cat, an expert burglar with some talent for martial arts and probability manipulation, and Silver Sable, a mercenary who runs an organization that hunts war criminals. Like Venom, this movie probably won’t have anything to do with Spider-Man either, though both of these characters have had run-ins with the web-slinger on the page in the past.
