‘Sinister 2’ Teaser: The Terror Returns, and It Won’t Stop Until Everyone Is Dead
WonderCon attendees got a special treat last night at the Blumhouse presentation, as the studio unleashed the first teaser trailer for Sinister 2. Just yesterday, we gave you a sneak peek at the return of the creepy Bughuul with the first images from the upcoming sequel. But you don’t have to be at WonderCon to check out this teaser, which packs some solid chills in its short run time.
It’s a brief teaser, but it tells you all you need to know: “Tell anyone, and he’ll kill you and your whole family.” It looks like they’ve expanded the Bughuul mythology a bit, and the boogeyman seems a bit more menacing this time around. There are some familiar horror elements — the spooky ghost kids in the corn field are evocative of Children of the Corn, while the idea that Bughuul will come after you for watching the old 8mm film reels reminds us of The Ring.
That’s not really a bad thing, as most contemporary horror films tend to wear their influences on their sleeve, but we’ll see how it all plays out soon enough.
In the aftermath of the shocking events in Sinister, a protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon of Wayward Pines) and her 9-year-old twin sons (real-life twins Robert and Dartanian Sloan) find themselves in a rural house marked for death as the evil spirit of Buhguul continues to spread with frightening intensity.
The sequel was directed by Ciaran Foy (Citadel) and stars Shannyn Sossamon, Robert and Dartanian Sloan, and features James Ransone reprising his role as Officer So and So. Sinister 2 hits theaters on August 21.
