Oliver Stone’s latest project is Snowden, which tells the true story of Edward Snowden, the NSA contractor who ultimately blew the whistle on the government branch, leaking incriminating classified documents to the press which revealed the NSA’s eyebrow-raising surveillance operations. He was previously the subject of the Oscar-winning documentary Citizenfour, and now he’s the subject of Stone’s newest narrative film, which has revealed a new image featuring Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the role of Snowden.

As expected, our first look at Snowden isn’t the kind of thing to lose your mind over. This is a film exploring the life of a government whistle-blower who leaked classified documents after leaving the U.S. for fear of indictment. Gordon-Levitt’s Snowden looks like Gordon-Levitt with glasses as he walks alongside Shailene Woodley, who portrays Snowden’s girlfriend, Lindsay Mills.

Mills was unaware of Snowden’s dissemination of the NSA documents until he contacted her from Hong Kong, where he was staying during the filming of Citizenfour. The pair then flew to Russia, which granted Snowden political asylum, and that’s where they’ve remained.

The new image comes the day after Snowden appeared on Last Week Tonight, where John Oliver interviewed him in a hilarious segment regarding the NSA and private information in the age of government surveillance (and also d—k pics).

Snowden will hit theaters on December 25.
