With the Sundance Film Festival in full swing, we'll be hearing plenty of acquisition news from now until at least the end of the month. One of the more popular titles shown, 'The Spectacular Now', James Ponsoldt's coming-of-age drama, has just made a big distribution splash, hooking up with A24 for a North American release this summer.

More details after the break.

Featuring a packed cast that includes Miles Teller, Shailene Woodley, Brie Larson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kyle Chandler and Andre Royo, 'The Spectacular Now' focuses on Sutter (Teller),  a high school senior who lives for the moment; Aimee is the introvert he attempts to "save." As their relationship deepens, the lines between right and wrong, friendship and love, and "saving" and corrupting become blurred.

“We fell in love with this film the minute that we watched it and we know the rest of the country will embrace this timeless love story. James has directed a wonderful film that depicts young love with complete authenticity and has two young stars giving incredible performances with Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley,” says A24.

Teller was recently seen in 'Rabbit Hole' and 'Project X', but this is definitely his breakout role. Woodley drew plaudits for her turn as George Clooney's daughter in 'The Descendants' and will be featured in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' as Mary-Jane Watson.

Meanwhile, Ponsoldt just made a major deal with Fox to write and direct an adaptation of the young adult hit 'Pure'.
