This past weekend, some brave soul with the wherewithal to actually attend a Skrillex DJ set at Atlantic City‘s Wav Nightclub shot a brief video of the celebrity EDM icon spinning an unreleased track featuring hip-hop heavyweight Rick Ross. Though the audio quality of the video embedded above makes it relatively difficult to decipher the lyrics, sharp-eared listeners have positively identified mentions of Gotham City, villain Killer Croc, and a “purple Lamborghini” (the Joker’s whip of choice) in the song. What’s more, Ross the Boss drops the phrase “Suicide Squad” a few times over the course of the song, which has now incited rumors that the mysterious new cut is the theme music for the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. Unless, of course, this is in no way authorized and Ross just likes comic books a lot. Which would make sense, I suppose — dude loves to play fantasy.

But in the event that this booming electronic jam is the real deal, it wouldn't be entirely unexpected. Sonny “Skrillex” Moore has contributed to films in the past, lending original compositions as well as a hilarious orchestral arrangement of his hit single “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” to Spring Breakers, and fresh work for the Wreck-It Ralph score. (Ross also jumped on the Django Unchained soundtrack with the trunk-rattler “100 Black Coffins.”)

Most excitingly, it’d be nice to return to the era when no big-budget studio tentpole was complete without a hip, edgy theme tune that’d probably include the title of the move in a rap breakdown. Think back to Vanilla Ice’s “Ninja Rap” from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, or The Fat Boys’ “Are You Ready For Freddy?” from A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: the Dream Master. At long last, Hollywood may be prepared to return to its former glory. Suicide Squad has esteemed company.
