Following yesterday’s reveal of new images from Black Panther, Marvel has unveiled a series of character portraits that offer a closer look at the main characters featured in T’Challa’s solo superhero film. The photos not only show off the heroes and villains of Wakanda, they also highlight the details of their gorgeous costumes, which reflect director Ryan Coogler’s vibrant and exciting new corner of the MCU.

Black Panther is so close, and yet so far. We got a banger of a trailer, complete with emover-sporting Michael and an unlikely yet perfect soundtrack cut from Run the Jewels. At San Diego Comic-Con later this month, Marvel will show out in full force, and there’s no doubt they’ll tantalize audiences in Hall H with some preview footage from the film. And to accompany that, Entertainment Weekly has run a new cover spread on Ryan Coogler’s upcoming film with new photos of the royal court ruling the Black Panther’s home nation of Wakanda. All this — for a movie that isn’t out until mid-February.

Star-on-the-rise Chadwick Boseman is making all the right moves. He came to prominence on the back of his Black Panther role first glimpsed in the recent Captain America: Civil War, and will square off against an emo Michael B. Jordan in this February’s solo film. But an actor’s only as good as the Serious Movie they use their blockbuster clout to get made, and for Chadwick Boseman (how great is that name? I want to only ever write it in full), that movie is going to be the Thurgood Marshall biopic Marshall. And now we can get an impression as to how this pivot from Civil War to Civil Rights is working out for Chadwick Boseman, as a trailer has surfaced online.

Well, folks, here it is: possibly the most anticipated Marvel trailer in recent memory. Black Panther is the titular superhero’s first solo outing since he was introduced in Captain America: Civil War, and is also the first Marvel movie with a predominantly black cast. Welcome to Wakanda, the African nation T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) presides over, which has been in turmoil since the untimely death of T’Challa’s father, the former king. The country is also the subject of some contention due to its proximity to a very important (yet fictional) metal.

February is officially part of the summer, at least as far as Hollywood is concerned. For the past two years, a big superhero movie has opened in February to huge grosses. This year we had The LEGO Batman Movie; in 2016, Deadpool shocked the world by becoming one of the biggest R-rated hits ever.

A thought to chew on this morning: is the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War the It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World of superhero movies? Both films sought to engineer success by jam-packing as many celebrities and other known quantities into its run time, assured that volume of wattage would surely translate to box-office paydirt. In the case of Stanley Kramer’s epic comedy, it worked, but the jury’s still out on Marvel’s latest superpalooza. Today brings the news that yet another big name will indeed be shoehorned into the third installment of the Avengers ensemble franchise, and fans are sure to be pleased.

It isn’t always easy for Marvel actors to work on other projects after they’ve committed themselves to several years of blockbuster movies and marketing appearances. That’s why it’s so nice to see Chadwick Boseman in a movie where he doesn’t just play another superhero. After having its world premiere at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival, Boseman’s neo-noir Message From the King finally has a trailer (via /Film) to go with its intriguing premise. It’s nice to get a reminder of Boseman’s acting chops and why Marvel wanted him so badly in the first place.

Pretty much the the two things we definitely, absolutely know about Black Panther is that Black Panther will be in it, and it’ll feature a pretty grand-scale car chase scene in the middle of Busan, South Korea. They’ve been filming the car chase for the past week, which is why we’ve been hearing so much about it, and today Korea’s branch of the Walt Disney Company has released a first look image of the scene.

At this point, you could probably use the MCU to delineate the passage of time. For instance, in just one more Marvel movie, it’ll be summertime, and we only have two more Marvel movies until Black Panther arrives. As we anxiously await T’Challa’s first solo film, new photos and video from the South Korea set have landed online, teasing a big chase sequence in which the hero rides atop a sports car. That series of words is definitely exciting.

Over the last several months, Black Panther has assembled a killer lineup, with names like Forest Whitaker, Sterling K. Brown and Angela Bassett among the recent names joining Chadwick Boseman— as if we weren’t already excited for T’Challa’s first big screen solo outing. Today, director Ryan Coogler and his amazing ensemble of actors officially started production on Black Panther, and Marvel has delivered the first plot synopsis with some new story details.
