‘Damien’ Trailer: Preview A&E’s ‘The Omen’ Sequel Series
The first Damien trailer shows off a series that’s playing straight into one of the stranger trends in modern entertainment — the sequel to an original story which ignores the sequels that already exists. A&E’s new show is a sequel to the 1976 horror classic The Omen, but it totally ignores all three follow-ups in favor of telling a brand new story. And that may be a good thing, because the sequels to The Omen are terrrrible and Damien looks like perfectly adequate television.

When The Omen sequel series was first announced, the plan was for Damien to premiere on Lifetime, where he would presumably help keep The Lizzie Borden Chronicles company. Recently, Damien moved over to Lifetime’s partner network, A&E, which seems like a better fit for the horror series alongside Bates Motel and The Returned. To celebrate the impending return of the spawn of satan, A&E has debuted the first, brief teaser for Damien, promising a much more grown-up little devil.

First announced last year, Damien is the forthcoming television series which serves as a sequel of sorts to classic 1976 horror film The Omen. The series was originally set up over at Lifetime, which has recently dipped its toe in the genre with Lizzie Borden Took an Ax follow-up The Lizzie Borden Chronicles. Damien is now being ported over to sister network A&E, where it’s been given an order for four more episodes.
