It’s generally accepted Gotham practice, that because the series would take a decade or so to elevate David Mazouz’s Bruce Wayne to Batman, some of the character’s greatest foes have arisen inexplicably early. So it was with the Joker-esque Jerome, and now Season 3 may be introducing a Harley Quinn character before the year is out.

Despite some of its more…divisive…aspects, there was at least one part of Suicide Squad that most people could agree on: Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn was pretty great. And it seems that, for as much fun as we had watching her on screen as the Joker’s occasional partner in crime, Robbie had just as much, as not long after the film hit theaters, it was reported that the actress was spearheading a spinoff featuring Harley and a handful of female DC villains. That project is called Gotham City Sirens, and it just took one big step closer to the big screen, with David Ayer signing on to direct.

Seeing as Kevin Smith managed to sneak Jason Mewes into The Flash not once, but twice, it stands to reason more View Askew faces would drop by the DC universe in a second go. It seems the Mallrats filmmaker managed to get Harley Quinn into his upcoming Supergirl episode, albeit probably not the one you’re thinking.

Margot Robbie is returning for Warner Bros.’ Harley Quinn spinoff, but this time she’ll be in front of and behind the camera.

Over three seasons Arrow has been no stranger to the Suicide Squad (though perhaps less now with a movie in the works), but few could forget the excitement of the CW drama first teasing Harley Quinn with a brief cameo. FOX’s pre-Batman era origin story ‘Gotham’ remains as divisive a series as ever. On the one hand, legions of fans remind us each week to give the prequel drama time to breathe, yet howls of laughter can be heard from the same corners when ‘Gotham’ makes yet another attempt to set up characters it can’t rightly use for decades to come. Enter the latest effort, as ‘Gotham’ producers confirm Robin’s “prenatal origin story” is on the way! Yeesh.
