Daredevil's history stretches back more than 50 years, though he's truly only come to relevance in the larger pop culture conversation these past few years. While it's true Matt Murdock is one of the first disabled superheroes, and has had dalliances with pop culture notoriety in the past, his arrival as the first of Marvel's Netflix heroes made him more a part of the zeitgeist than ever before. No number of successful comic book runs on his self-titled book can compare with Netflix's subscriber numbers, and his turn in the spotlight is well-deserved, if a bit late for longtime fans. With a co-starring turn on The Defenders just ahead, Hasbro gave ol' horn head a special edition release at Comic-Con, celebrating the blind hero's fame with a fantastic 12" action figure.

I don't know if you heard, but Marvel had quite the Comic-Con this past weekend. From new Thor: Ragnarok trailers, to special footage of Black Panther, and Captain Marvel movie details, it was hard not to have something to look forward to from the Marvel Universe. The big reveals didn't stop with the Marvel Studios panel however. Merchandising partner Hasbro had a lot of Marvel tricks up its sleeve, too. With new Defenders figures, Deadpool collectibles, and throwback toys, Comic-Con 2017 was one of Marvel Legends' strongest yet.

While his appearance in The Force Awakens was basically a cameo, fans have been clamoring for a new Luke Skywalker action figure to join the rest of the cast from the current trilogy. For more than two years, the Jedi knight has remained in seclusion on Acht-To, but this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, Hasbro will finally deliver Luke. Along with a new Jedi-in-training Rey, Luke will be part of The Last Jedi exclusive offered at this year’s convention.

The toy controversies just never stop, do they? With #WheresRey and the Black Widow and Gamora controversies only just behind us, it seems like toy companies would have gotten the hint by now. But Hasbro’s Star Wars Monopoly game unveiled after The Force Awakens opened still hasn’t fixed their Rey problem. Well, they’ve fixed it overseas, but apparently Americans just aren’t interested enough.

Though Hasbro has many different ways for Marvel fans to enjoy their favorite characters, the Marvel Legends brand is the flagship series for devout collectors. For years now, Marvel Legends has been the home of Hasbro's deepest roster, figures with the most articulation, and the most unexpected build-a-figure toys at retail. Spider-Man has already been a major part of the Legends brand, with at least one wave per year. This year's release of Spider-Man: Homecoming gave the webslinger the expected movie-themed wave, but also included one of Hasbro's latest experiments: a build-an-accessory. It's a gamble that pays off with a completed collection, but all the individual figures are worth the price of admission any way.

For the past few years, Toys R Us and Entertainment Earth have teamed up to offer a select number of Comic-Con exclusives to the public that couldn't make it to the show itself. This year, the two retailers are again teaming up for a series of varied toys and collectibles that would otherwise be unavailable to anyone outside of San Diego. Mixing things up with Hasbro, Funko, Playmates and more, this year's offerings bring a very diverse grouping that collectors will more than be happy to snap up from the comforts of their own homes.

Casting Cate Blanchett in just about anything makes it worth watching, but when you put her in the helm of the baddest lady in Asgard, all. Bets. Are. Off. Forty years ago, Star Wars exploded onto the scene, and pop culture was never the same. From the moment the first film hit the screens, the phenomenon that was Star Wars could hardly be contained. There were movies, books, comics, stickers, trading cards, socks, pajamas, and all manner of products with the epic sci-fi saga flooding stores and homes around the globe. Most of all, there were the toys. Star Wars changed the action figure game forever in 1978, and it's still looking for new ways to shake up the industry. At this year's Star Wars Celebration, Hasbro and Lucasfilm announced a new venture that would combine toys, comics and animated shorts into one new brand called Star Wars: Forces of Destiny. Following similar concepts from the likes of DC Super Hero Girls, Forces of Destiny's main focus was new dolls with a focus on articulation and action rather than lifestyle and fashions. We spoke with Forces of Destiny's product designer Keysha Ramos to learn more about the figures, and what makes now the right time for such a line.
