After delivering unto audiences five Transformers movies, Michael Bay, in his infinite wisdom, has finally chosen which action movies he shall bestow upon us next — and it probably won’t come as a surprise to learn that one of them is about robots. But first: Bay will take a brief break from all that robot Bayhem with an action flick from the writers of Deadpool.

Back in 2012, Steven Spielberg was set to direct an adaptation of Daniel H. Wilson’s Robopocalypse. But a year later, Spielberg delayed the project and put it back in development, with no dedicated timeframe for getting the film made. The decisions of directors often impact their colleagues, especially when they're working in close proximity to similar material, so it makes sense to think that perhaps Guillermo del Toro's 'Pacific Rim' influenced Steven Spielberg's decision to place 'Robopocalypse' on indefinite hold. However, this "hold" may not be what it seems, according to recent statements by Spielberg.

Though both Chris Hemsworth and Anne Hathaway seemed to be set as the leads, and the film had a release date of April 25, 2014, it looks like Steven Spielberg's adaptation of 'Robopocalypse' is going to be put on hold for an indefinite period of time.

Anne Hathaway had been rumored to be joining Steven Spielberg's next film, 'Robopocalypse,' though there was never any formal word on her involvement. Well, today we get formal word from a most official source: Anne Hathaway, who confirms she will, in fact, star in 'Robopocalypse.'

As Steven Spielberg puts his final touches on this year's 'Lincoln,' it looks like he'll be jumping straight into 'Robopocalypse.' We get that impression because - for the second day in the row - casting news is starting to break on the project. The latest rumored lead: Ben Whishaw.

After the massive success of 'The Avengers,' Fox and Disney have decided to shift their schedule around a bit, moving Steven Spielberg's robot epic to April 25, 2014 -- the same weekend that 'The Avengers' released this year.
