In the weekly column Extra Credit, Charles Bramesco recommends supplemental viewing for moviegoers whose interests have been piqued by a given week’s big new release.

The time has come to address a national issue of mounting importance, one that we can no longer afford to ignore. I am referring, of course, to the lack of streaming availability for many of the finest entries in the ignominious tradition of the teen sex comedy genre. While compiling selections for this week’s column — pinned to the amusing new Blockers, in which a trio of parents scramble to stop their daughters from gettin’ a stew goin’ during prom night — this critic was disappointed to learn that the likes of Losin’ It, The Sure ThingH.O.T.S., and Turn Me On, Dammit! are all home-video only. The people need, nay, deserve access to the raunchfests of days past. How else will we learn that teen horniness is not a crime?

Even so, that leaves plenty of picks for movies built around the trials and tribulations of losing the V-card. Setting aside the obvious (you have seen American Pie and Superbad, right?) and those that overreach from “good-naturedly lecherous” to “uncomfortably lecherous” (the likes of Porky’sRevenge of the Nerds, and Weird Science have, shall we say, aged poorly), here are five picks to get your blood pumping and remind you of young love — or at least young lust:
